A stage drama of Ridge's "Rosita" version was written by Charles Howe and added to the legend by having San Joaquin County offer a $5000 reward for Joaquin, dead or alive. While there are some plot holes that are never addressed, this story gives us a glimpse into the fearful environment of this communist country just before the Berlin Wall comes down. Even many years ago European settlers looked down upon the Native Americans as inferior. I then altered this a bit to affect a compromise that would be easy to read and yet feel authentic.
