Amnesic patients often have worse episodic memory than semantic memory. There is no scientific evidence any memories can be stored outside the brain. Evolutionary Psychology endorses the computational model of the mind as an information processing system or a formal symbol manipulator and thus treats the mind as a collection of "computational machines" (Cosmides and Tooby 2003, 54) or "information-processing mechanisms" (Tooby and Cosmides 1990a, 21) that receive input from the environment and produce behavior or physiological changes as output.
